Assistant Superintendent

To remediate reading difficulties in students. Provide testing, monitoring, and documentation for Individualized Reading Plans.
JOB GOALThe intent of this position is to facilitate student Reading growth in accordance with state standards and guidelines for Reading proficiency.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE- Collaborate with Assistant Superintendent, Principals, Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, Title I Reading Teachers
- Provide Literacy training for staff
- Assist Assistant Superintendent and building principal(s) in collecting and analyzing data
- Assist Assistant Superintendent, building principal(s), and teachers in developing and implementing Individual Reading Plans
- Participate in and lead professional development
- Support struggling students
- Model one-on-one and small group interventions with struggling readers
- Model Literacy Intervention lessons to small groups of students.
- Conduct and train staff to conduct reading screenings and diagnostic evaluations.
- Act as a Data Specialist in Reading/Literacy.
- Maintain a healthy, positive climate for learning.
- Assist Assistant Superintendent, building principal(s), and teachers in evaluating and selects instructional materials.
- Conference with parents concerning students' special reading problems.
- Keep abreast of developments in reading
- Work diligently to obtain full Reading Specialist certification.
- Monitor student progress towards literacy proficiency.
- Assist Assistant Superintendent and building Principals in preparing required reports.
- Serve as a specialist to support classroom teachers in their work with challenging students.
Approximately 180 days; salary and fringe benefits to be set by Board of Trustees.
EVALUATIONPerformance of this job will be in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
