Special Education Para educator

This position offers 35-40 hours per week in a full-time role with a comprehensive benefit package. The special education para-educator works under the supervision of the building principal and special education teachers. They assist in implementing special education services and provide direct support to students based on their age and the nature of their disabilities.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining confidentiality and following district and classroom procedures
• Supporting teachers in helping students understand and complete assignments
• Carrying out activities and accommodations as directed by the teacher
• Supporting teachers in various classroom settings

Additional duties involve:

• Assisting students with personal and academic needs
• Implementing behavioral programs and monitoring social skills
• Using various computer programs and communication devices
• Teaching community mobility and post-secondary skills
• Assisting in the resource room and maintaining communication between teachers
• Managing classroom behavior and defusing aggressive situations
