Position SummaryThis full‑time Day shift RN position will work on the Med/Surg and Labor and Delivery units at Washakie Medical Center, Worland, Wyoming. The RN will assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards.
Core Functions- Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history, lab data, and reports abnormal results to the physician.
- Formulates a plan of care—including discharge planning—based on assessment data, patient/family input and the medical plan of care; goals are realistic, measurable, and developed with the patient/family.
- Planned care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; revises plan of care as patient status changes.
- Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team; provides care based on physician orders and nursing plan of care.
- Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision to licensed and non‑licensed personnel; promotes continuity of care by communicating patient status to other caregivers.
- Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises plan of care as needed and documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record.
- Provides evidence‑based care, participates in research activities, unit shared leadership, and education/mentoring of facility personnel, patients, families, and visitors.
- Contributes to society through activities that enhance patient outcomes and participates in professional organizations.
- Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and external contacts; works with clergy to provide spiritual support.
- Provides direction and supervision to licensed and non‑licensed personnel in the activities necessary to provide quality care and services.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach and stretch frequently.
- Physical agility and adequate reaction time for unexpected patient care needs.
- Adequate hearing and visual acuity, including color vision.
- Fine motor skills, adequate eye‑hand coordination and ability to grasp and handle objects.
- Use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair.
- May be required to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Use standard precautions due to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
- Communicate effectively through reading, writing and speaking in person or on telephone.
- May require periodic use of personal computer.
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim RN license or compact RN licensure for the state of practice).
- BLS certification required.
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
- Minimum of one year experience as a RN in an acute care setting within the past 12 months in the relevant specialty area.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
