District Lineman

General
Purpose:
A District Lineman is a qualified Journeyman Lineman who performs all the functions of a Journeyman and is in charge of and resides in an assigned service area apart from a local or district headquarters.
Responsibilities:
- Constructing and maintaining distribution and transmission lines, servicing street lights, transformers and related equipment.
- Installing, removing and reading all types of meters and metering devices.
- Investigating and resolving customer service complaints including radio interference.
- Collecting delinquent accounts.
- Provide directions on the work for other team members.
- In the event an additional Journeyman Lineman is sent to assist them, the District Lineman shall serve as the Working Foreman.
- If a crew of 3 or more is sent to assist the District Lineman, the District Line Foreman shall be in charge of the crew. The District Lineman shall assist as a Lineman on the crew.
- The District Lineman's headquarters will be their home and they will report to the Operations Manager responsible for the assigned service area.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education.
- Journeyman Lineman certification or testing through UWUA 127.
- Completion of a formal training program for a Journeyman Lineman.
- Must meet examining board review of skills and experience.
- Must have formal hot stick training and experience.
- Must own, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Must have the ability to represent the company in customer relation activities within the local service area.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead.
- Carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands, and pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertion force.
- Sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead.
- Forceful grip and pinch; manipulation of small objects; balancing on one or both legs during dynamic activities; manipulation of large objects during activities requiring balance and sustained awkward postures.
- This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job.
Preferences:
- 2+ years experience as a Journeymen Lineman.
