Youth Services Specialist
We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as a Youth Services Specialist at the Wyoming Boys' School in Worland. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide supervision, safety, and mentorship for adjudicated male youth ages 12-21 in a supportive juvenile correctional setting. Key responsibilities include providing security and supervision within the assigned dormitory during active programming hours, implementing behavioral interventions and modeling positive life skills, coordinating daily activities to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, documenting student progress, participating in clinical team assessments, and managing crises and responding to emergencies in compliance with facility policies.
Preference may be given to applicants with at least one year of work experience with youth services. However, anyone interested in an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of youth is encouraged to apply. The Boys' School will provide training and mentorship to ensure that new team members have the resources and knowledge to succeed in this role. Located along the Big Horn River, Worland offers a strong community feel, beautiful mountain views, and protection from severe weather via the Big Horn Basin topography.

- As a student's clinical team member, communicate, document, and assess each student's changing individual needs, including families and the public.
- Within the scope of facility policy, structure, and position duties, this position has the authority to make decisions regarding general program/activity adjustments and changes to student program status.
- Provide advice, counsel, teaching, and direction to students assigned to the dorm.
- Assess behavior and recommend interventions to the counseling and senior staff.
- Determine and assess youth progress within the program and document using incident reports.
- Coordinate, supervise, and motivate students during general daily activities and ensure that the youth participate and meet the requirements of all program components they are responsible for completing.
- Manage and supervise students' general daily activities.
- Participates in youth accountability and disciplinary processes.
- Manage crises in compliance with current certification in the crisis management system and the policies, and promptly respond to emergencies or situations as needed.
- Safely and securely transport students on/off campus for activities and work projects.
- Explain agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to new residents during intake to the dormitory.
- Supports the educational department in ensuring students have the opportunity to complete assignments.
- Supports and ensures students receive access to services that benefit their emotional stability and development.
- Provides leadership to a unit through disciplinary actions, setting standards and guidelines, ensuring academic support is provided, and all medical issues are attended to.
Preference may be given to applicants with an Associate's Degree. Preference may be given to applicants with one year of work experience in youth services. Knowledge of facility policy/procedures, knowledge of safety/security procedures, knowledge of Right Response Principles, knowledge of non-physical and physical intervention skills during crises, skills in written, verbal, and non-verbal communication, knowledge and skills in preparing and teaching group material.
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Social Services).
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Youth Services Specialist OR 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Youth Services Specialist.
