About Us

‘Building a Culture of Compassion, Confidence & Consistency’

At All Stars Nursery Newcastle we are passionate about creating a joyful, safe and enabling environment where children thrive through play, wonder and discovery. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Early Years Manager who brings warmth, leadership and a growth mindset to our team and the All Stars Community.

Your Core Purpose

As the setting Manager, you’ll be the heart of our early years setting — leading our team to deliver an exceptional environment that meets all statutory requirements, reflects the latest Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) standards, and celebrates the uniqueness of every child. You’ll balance strategic leadership with hands‑on involvement, ensuring high‑quality care, learning and development for children from birth to age 5.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Management
    • Lead, inspire and grow a passionate, motivated team who love working with children.
    • Take overall responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the setting, ensuring smooth operations and delivering high‑quality early education.
    • Ensure staffing levels, deployment and qualifications meet statutory requirements and best practice.
    • Oversee staff induction, performance, development, supervision and continuous professional development.
  • Quality of Care & Learning
    • Embed and sequence the All Stars Curriculum that aligns with the EYFS statutory framework and supports all areas of child development.
    • Monitor and evaluate continuous provision, observation, assessment and planning to meet individual needs.
    • Keep up‑to‑date with pedagogical guidance such as Development Matters / Birth to 5 Matters to enrich practice.
  • Safeguarding, Health & Safety
    • Promote a culture of safeguarding where every child feels safe, valued and supported.
    • Create a strong safeguarding culture across the whole setting.
    • Ensure all safeguarding, health & safety policies and procedures are understood, implemented and regularly reviewed.
    • Lead risk assessments, emergency plans and reviews of practice.
  • Compliance & Improvement
    • Prepare for and lead regulatory inspection readiness (Ofsted), addressing recommendations and sustaining excellence.
    • Maintain accurate records (attendance, assessments, incidents, complaints, etc.) and monitor key performance indicators.
    • Support policy review and development in line with regulatory updates.
  • Parent & Community Engagement
    • Build strong, collaborative relationships with families — sharing progress, listening, and tailoring support. Promote a culture of transparency, honesty and confidence.
    • Act as an ambassador for the setting within the local community, partners and external agencies.
    • Work collaboratively with local authorities and other early years professionals.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Hold a DFE Full & Relevant qualification at Level 3 or above (or equivalent) — setting managers must hold appropriate qualifications under EYFS regulations.
  • GCSE Grade 4 in mathematics or above, or an approved equivalent. Willingness to achieve this in a set time‑frame if not before being counted in ratio.
  • Proven experience in an early years setting, including leadership or supervisory responsibility (minimum 2 years).
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS statutory framework and child development.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and people‑leadership skills.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, SEND and inclusion.
  • Enhanced DBS Checklist with barred checklist and suitable to work with children.
  • Full and Relevant 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid Training or willingness to complete before being counted in ratio.
  • Good spoken & written English.
  • Food Safety Level 2 or willingness to complete before handling food.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Level 4, 5 or 6 qualifications in Early Years, Leadership & Management or Early Childhood Studies.
  • DSL Training.
  • SENCO or Inclusion related training.
  • Previous experience as Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager or Room Leader with leadership responsibilities.
