We are looking for an Assistant Controller to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.
OverviewOur client is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to support corporate accounting operations, lead team development, and strengthen financial reporting processes. This hybrid position based in Worthington, OH, offers visibility across the organization and requires strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support month-end close activities, financial statement preparation, and reporting
- Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and process reviews
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to GAAP and company policies
- Supervise and develop accounting staff; review work for accuracy and compliance
- Assist the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic accounting initiatives
- Collaborate with FP&A, Finance, Operations, and external partners
- Support annual audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and audit responses
- Drive process improvements and workflow automation within accounting operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP, month-end close, and internal controls
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience is highly valued
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
