Assistant Controller

We are looking for an Assistant Controller to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

Our client is hiring an Assistant Controller (Hybrid – Worthington, OH) to support accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and team leadership. This role assists the Controller with month-end close, audits, compliance, and process enhancements. A CPA is preferred, and candidates should have strong GAAP knowledge and hands-on accounting experience.

• Manage accounting operations including closing processes, reconciliations, entries, and reporting
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements
• Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance explanations
• Lead and mentor accounting team members, supporting training and performance management
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
• Maintain and improve ERP workflows, reporting tools, and accounting efficiency
• Assist in external and internal audit preparation, documentation, and follow-up
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in corporate environments
• Strong understanding of GAAP, controls, reporting, and close cycles
• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
• Strong ERP proficiency and advanced Excel capabilities
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
