Bus Driver Head Start Worthington (30-32 hrs/wk)Overview
Southwestern Minnesota Opportunity Council is excited to offer full-time (30-32 hours/week) Bus Driver for our Head Start Worthington program. Start date is July 20, 2025
Specific SkillsTo carry out the responsibilities, bus drivers will have the skills or training in these areas:
Traffic and safety laws, First Aid and CPR, daily maintenance checks, record-keeping, understanding child behavior, constructive discipline and defensive driving skills. Ability to submit accurate and timely data. Flexibility. Good oral communication skills. often working with distractions. Medium work, lifting to 40-60 pounds, with frequent lifting/carrying up to 40-60 pounds. Mobility in and out of bus. Able to sit to drive the duration of all scheduled bus routes.
Able to perform maintenance checks to buses.
Assisting parents in the role as their child's first and most important teacher by operating the bus safely, relating effectively to parents and to the children being transported, and responding effectively to emergency situations. Bus drivers are supported by a rider who helps ensure safe and timely travel.

Job NatureFull Time
Educational Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must possess a Class C driver’s license with passenger endorsement (CDL/P) and car insurance.
- Prior experience transporting children in a similar setting preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
