The Department of Accounting & Finance at the University of Alaska Anchorage invites applications for a non‑tenure‑track, Term Assistant Professor of Accounting, with a start date of August 2026. Candidates must hold a master’s degree or higher in Accounting or Taxation, or an MBA with a CPA, and possess professional experience of sufficient duration and responsibility to support the teaching mission of the department.
All terminal and master’s degrees must be from AACSB‑accredited institutions.
The Term Assistant Professor of Accounting in the College of Business and Public Policy will teach undergraduate accounting courses—such as Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Managerial/Cost Accounting, or Taxation—in‑person and online. Responsibilities also include mentoring undergraduate students and contributing to departmental and university service. The typical teaching load is four courses per semester.
To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and students from a wide range of backgrounds; strong interpersonal and communication skills; and the capability to merge theory with professional practice. Experience or interest in online instruction, as well as professional certification (such as CPA or CMA) or relevant industry experience, is highly desirable.
Faculty represent the department within the university and broader community while contributing to a collaborative and supportive academic environment.
- Master’s degree or higher in Accounting or Taxation, or an MBA with a CPA.
- Professional experience of sufficient duration and responsibility to contribute to the teaching mission of the department.
- All terminal and master’s business degrees must be from AACSB‑accredited institutions or equivalent.
- Maintaining industry or academic currency is required.
- Professional certification (CPA, CMA) and/or work experience in accounting is desirable.

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. Applicants must be able to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska by the position start date. This is a full‑time, 9‑month, term‑funded, non‑tenure‑track, faculty position complete with a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience.
