Program Overview
TRIO Upward Bound (UB) is a grant‑funded program that serves 120 limited‑income or first‑generation college students from Bartlett and West Anchorage High School. The six‑week summer program starts on June 1 and continues through June 26, with training and course preparation from May 18. Adjunct professors will instruct high‑school students in English, math, science, cultural electives, and career exploration electives.
Schedule- Science – Monday and Wednesday, 9:15 am – 10:40 am
- Math – Tuesday and Thursday, 10:50 am – 12:15 pm
- English – Monday and Wednesday, 10:50 am – 12:15 pm
- Cultural Elective – Tuesday and Thursday, 9:15 am – 10:40 am
- Career Exploration Electives – Monday and Wednesday, 1:15 pm – 2:40 pm
Payment will be $1,000 total, split into biweekly paychecks. Each instructor may work up to 20 hours per pay period, including three hours per week of lessons from June 1 to June 26.
ResponsibilitiesSummer instructors for TRIO Upward Bound will develop course curriculum, deliver content, and oversee student safety and engagement throughout the contracted time with the program.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree/Master's degree in a field related to the position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position DetailsThis temporary adjunct position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage, AK. The role lasts from May 18 to June 26 and is a pooled position; applications are reviewed as needed.
