The Senior Project Geologist will play a key role in advancing projects in Alaska. This position is responsible for geological interpretation, drill program planning and execution and resource definition support. The role requires strong technical expertise, field leadership, and the ability to operate effectively in remote, challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage geological aspects of exploration and resource definition programs, including drilling, sampling, logging, and data validation
- Develop and refine geological models to support exploration targeting, project advancement, and mine planning
- Plan, execute, and oversee drill programs, including contractor coordination, QA/QC protocols, and health and safety compliance
- Interpret geochemical, geophysical, and structural data to generate and prioritize exploration targets
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and internal documentation to support project decisions and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate closely with mining, engineering, environmental, and permitting teams to ensure integrated project development
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate geologists
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry best practices, and applicable state and federal regulations
- Support budget preparation, cost tracking, and schedule management for geological programs
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 8–12 years of progressive experience in gold exploration and/or mine geology
- Strong understanding of orogenic and/or intrusion-related gold systems (experience in Alaskan or similar terrains preferred)
- Proven experience designing and managing drill programs
- Proficiency with geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Micromine, or similar platforms)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work rotational schedules in Alaska
