Job Summary

The General Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight at the processing facility, ensuring operational excellence, efficiency, and compliance with quality and safety standards. This role drives continuous improvement, cost optimization, and best practices at the location while fostering a high‑performance culture. The General Manager collaborates with senior leadership to develop and execute long‑term business plans, aligning plant performance with organizational goals.

This role requires a leader with a strategic mindset and who can effectively communicate and execute the vision, develop and grow a team, and sustainably and consistently grow and improve the business year after year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the processing location in developing control of profits, plans, and budgeting; review and analyse activities to assess location progress toward goals and objectives including labor efficiencies and overtime usage.
  • Achieve pre‑tax budget; achieve a production variance within the established threshold.
  • Develop talent in support of a culture that is energized, engaged, and highly motivated to deliver the highest levels of productivity and quality. Ensure implementation of team‑building and succession‑planning programmes and foster a culture aligned to the values and mission of Pacific Seafood.
  • Complete performance reviews and succession/training plans annually (100% completion).
  • Manage regulatory changes with the regulatory manager, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal employment regulations. Implement employment policies and guidelines in alignment with company standards to maintain compliance and foster a safe working environment.
  • Achieve positive results on audits from outside regulatory agencies. Meet the TIR goal for your location.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Pacific Seafood strategic plan, business model and the multiple vertically integrated business units; collaborate and align with cross‑functional teams to plan and implement the business strategies.
  • Establish and adhere to a timeline and budget for projects supporting the strategic plan.
  • Develop consistent KPIs for volume throughput in production facilities, focusing on leveraging labour and targeted training and development with location managers.
  • Oversee fundamental sales processes and implement improvement to provide business development, customer requirements, and market growth.
  • Strive to continuously improve operations with respect to best practices and effective use of technology for productivity, food quality, team‑member safety, inventory levels and management of operating expenses.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years’ management experience in fast‑paced manufacturing environment, preferably in the food processing industry.
  • Excellent working knowledge of finance and accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling procedures, HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and food safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability in workforce demand planning, managing cost performance, and production forecasting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, primarily Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to travel 30% of the time or more, as required.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in the food industry.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Management experience in Purchasing and Operations.
  • AS400 Knowledge.
