Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive nursing care to long-term care residents, ensuring safe, effective, and individualized treatment while collaborating with the healthcare team and supporting resident education and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver nursing procedures in accordance with physician's orders, standards of care, and departmental policies.
- Assess residents through thorough initial evaluations, ongoing observation, and documentation, recognizing normal versus abnormal findings.
- Administer medications and therapeutics accurately, ensuring adherence to age-specific dosages and safety protocols.
- Educate residents and their families about health conditions, treatments, and discharge plans to promote understanding and coping skills.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to CNAs, LPNs, and support staff, ensuring quality resident care and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Lead as Contact RN and perform as charge nurse when necessary, managing unit operations and staff coordination during shifts.
- Valid and active Alaska RN license.
- Current CPR and influenza vaccination required.
- Proven ability to make sound clinical judgments in emergency situations.
- Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills for team collaboration and resident education.
- Knowledge of infection control, medication administration, and holistic resident assessment.
