Job Overview
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational Vocational Instructor A/B to work at the Wrentham Developmental Center providing guidance to individuals with intellectual disabilities, maximizing each person’s potential.
Duties & Responsibilities- Assign individualized objectives and appropriate work assignments created for various employment programs.
- Work alongside individuals at various work sites providing direction and support.
- Assess consumer’s needs along with the instructional needs of individuals and determine the methods of instruction to be used.
- Ensure engagement of meaningful activities to meet individual’s vocational and day program goals.
- Participate in data collection and documentation on progress; track and complete assessment data on production and attendance as necessary.
- Develop programs based on individual assessments and Individual Service Plan data.
- Facilitate pre‑vocational skill groups and instruct participants in job development skills through curriculum and group activities.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Prior experience working in a vocational program setting.
- Experience with assessments and documentation.
Full Time – 40 hours per week.
Working:
Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Days Off:
Saturday and Sunday. Flexibility required to operate pre‑vocational groups during non‑work hours.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must possess a current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
Requirements:
- One year of full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) experience working with individuals with mental retardation, developmental disabilities, mental illness, and/or blindness in vocational or industrial training or instruction.
- Associate’s degree or higher in industrial arts or vocational education may be substituted for the required experience based on two years of education for one year of experience.
- One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
- Based on assignment, travel may be required; a valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s license or equivalent from another state is required.

SalaryUS $55,561.74 – 75,049.00 per year.
