Job DescriptionWrentham Public Schools is seeking an experienced special education teacher who can facilitate the academic and social‑behavioral needs of elementary students with identified developmental and social‑communication disabilities, including Autism. As a member of the Individualized Learning Center Team, the teacher will provide specialized instruction to assist students in decreasing challenging behaviors that prevent them from developing to their full potential, while systematically increasing appropriate self‑regulation strategies and socially appropriate behaviors so they can access the general education environment to the extent possible.
SpecificResponsibilities
- Maintain all responsibilities of a special education liaison in regards to evaluation and IEP development within mandated timelines.
- Facilitate individual students’ academic, self‑regulation, and social‑behavioral programs based on their IEP goals.
- Develop and implement individual Behavior Intervention Plans; graph and analyze data collected to monitor student progress.
- Consult regularly with related service therapists, counseling staff, BCBA, and classroom teachers to ensure consistency of behavioral approaches across settings.
- Supervise and provide ongoing training to ABA tutors and paraprofessionals.
- Provide ongoing parent communication, consultation, and training as needed.
- MA License in Moderate or Severe Special Needs (preferred)
- Training and experience in ABA methodology
- Teaching experience within the elementary grades
- Training and/or experience with Social Thinking, Zones of Regulation, De‑Escalation Strategies
- Knowledge of a wide range of developmental disabilities, including students with Autism and other social‑behavioral challenges
- Willingness and physical ability to be trained and certified in CALM Crisis Prevention
- Excellent skills in instruction, time management, organization and communication
- Master’s degree preferred
