Job DescriptionThe Career and Community Engagement Coordinator position develops, implements, and supports a variety of programs that connect students with career pathways and community involvement opportunities.
This role builds partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and higher education institutions to provide experiences such as internships, job shadowing, service learning, and volunteer work, which provides a vital role for students in the Innovation Career Pathway (ICP) program.
The coordinator also assists students with career readiness skills through the Business Center at KP, such as résumé building, interviewing, and networking, while fostering civic engagement and community awareness.
The coordinator serves as the bridge between the school, community, and industry partners ensuring that every student gains valuable, real-world exposure aligned with their career interests and goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Partnership Development & Connection :
Build and maintain strong relationships with industry professionals and community organizations to develop meaningful partnerships that enhance student learning and career readiness. Coordinate guest lectures, industry workshops, and mentorship programs to expose students to professionals across business, marketing, and finance sectors. - Internship Development & Coordination:
In coordination with the school counselors, create, coordinate, and oversee internship opportunities. Organize and oversee both in-person and virtual internships that align with students’ individual career goals and pathway objectives. Manage and monitor the internship tracking system to document student placements, participation, and progress. - Event Planning and Networking:
Plan and execute networking events, including, but not limited to: career fairs, discussion panels, and professional meetings that connect students with business and community leaders. - Student Assessment:
Assess student career interests and skills to inform internship placement, programming, and pathway development. - Communication and
Collaboration:
Serve as the key point of contact among students, families, faculty, and community stakeholders to ensure alignment and success across all program initiatives. - Business Center Oversight:
Lead operations of the newly established Business Center, where students receive individualized support in resume writing, career portfolio development, presentation skills, and interview preparation. - Student Showcases:
Support the planning and execution of student showcases, capstone projects for ICP, and career events that highlight student projects, foster professional feedback, and celebrate achievements.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, business, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with high school students, career programs, or workforce development initiatives preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
