Position Summary
POSITION SUMMARY: The Transportation Supervisor provides direct supervision and coordination of the daily activities related to transportation programs and roles, such as drivers and/or transportation administrative support roles. Creates schedules and assigns routes to maximize efficiencies and enhance company profitability. Ensures compliance with transportation regulations and company policies and procedures. Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists team members in solving work problems.
Selects, develops, and evaluates team members to ensure efficient operations.
- Provides day‑to‑day supervision of CDL drivers.
- Plans schedules and routes to ensure maximum efficiencies.
- Ensures the vehicle fleet is properly maintained.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws for hazardous material and hazardous waste shipments.
- Monitors and assists with keeping operational costs at or below budget.
- Ensures clear communication with internal operations, disposal facilities, and others in the normal course of transportation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Supervises employees per organizational chart.
- Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Knowledge of personnel management and operations.
- Knowledgeable in federal, state, and local regulation concerning transportation matters.
- Knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations and of transportation principles and best practices.
- Skill to investigate complaints, analyze information, and recommend resolutions; address difficult situations constructively; use computer technology for communication, data gathering, and reporting; negotiate and solve problems; build rapport with associates and managers; detail oriented, with a high level of accuracy and the ability to detect inconsistencies in data.
- 2–3 years of experience in a related area. Requires thorough knowledge of functional area processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of EPA regulations, transportation equipment, and associated vehicle maintenance requirements.
The pay range for this position is $71,400.00 to $98,100.00*, which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.
