Job Description & How to Apply Below
* Could this be your most meaningful role yet?
* Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.

* Become a Lleol Transitions Foster Carer with Foster Wales Flintshire
*
* Please note:

This role requires you to be self-employed
* Rooted in community. Built on relationships. Focused on children.
Have you been on a journey that has seen you support children or young people - perhaps in education, care, or wellbeing roles?
Have you ever wondered whether you could make that difference from your own home?
With Foster Wales Flintshire, you can take the experience you already have and use it in the most powerful way possible: by offering stability and belonging to a young person who needs it most.
This isn’t just fostering. This is Lleol Transitions Fostering - and it could be the most rewarding thing you’ll ever do.

* To foster in the UK, you must meet all of the following requirements:
* * Be 21 years of age or over

* Have a spare, dedicated bedroom in your home

* Have experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable adults (professionally or personally)

* Be a British citizen or hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK

* Important – Visa Status
* We are unable to accept applications from individuals who hold:

* EU Settled or Pre-Settled Status

* Graduate visas

* Skilled Worker visas

* Student visas

* Health & Care Worker visas

* Spouse Visa

* Any other temporary or time-limited visa
We welcome applicants from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including Nursery Nurses, Nursery Practitioners, Counsellors, Probation Officers, Registered Nurses, Educational Psychologists, Prison Officers, Childcare Workers, Registered Managers, Social Workers, Housing Officers, Teachers, Tutors, Substance Misuse Workers, CAMHS Workers, and Youth Offending Workers. If you have experience supporting others through challenging circumstances, you already have the foundation to make a lasting difference as a foster carer.

* What is Lleol Transitions Fostering?
* Lleol simply means _local_ in Welsh. That local connection is everything when it comes to a young person’s identity, sense of belonging, and their future.
We’re the local authority fostering team here in Flintshire - we’re not a private agency. That means we’re fully focused on the children in our area, and committed to finding them the right homes, here in their own communities.
Some young people in and around Flintshire need a bit more than traditional foster care. They may be stepping down from residential care or high-support settings, and they need time, understanding, and calm, consistent support to help them adjust to family life.
That’s where you come in.

* Could you become a Lleol Transitions Foster Carer?
* We’re looking for people who have experience - either personal or professional - in helping children and young people thrive. Maybe you’ve worked in schools, care homes, youth work, or healthcare. Maybe you’ve simply walked alongside children through challenging times.
If you can provide a nurturing home and offer your full-time care, we’ll be with you every step of the way.

* A full package of support that reflects your commitment
* This is fostering with a difference. We understand the dedication and skill that this role asks of you. That’s why we offer:
* £50,000 annual financial support package

* Up to £258.79 Weekly Fostering Allowance (over £13,453 annually)

* Additional Allowances for Birthdays, Holidays & Christmas (up to £1,035 annually)

* In addition, you will also get access to:
* * Ongoing support and guidance from your local Foster Wales Flintshire team

* A linked Lleol Support Foster Carer for hands-on, practical help

* Specialist training and therapeutic learning opportunities

* Regular peer support groups and wellbeing activities

* Membership to The Fostering Network & access to the Mockingbird community model (where appropriate)

* 50% Council Tax discount

* Membership to the Blue Light Card for nationwide discounts

* Recognition and rewards through the Care Friends app
We generally ask that you don’t have children under 16 living at home, but we’ll always look at each situation…
