Borras Park Full Day Care Provision is seeking enthusiastic, caring and motivated Practitioners to join our dedicated childcare team. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting children to play, learn and develop within a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work across our Playgroup, Flying Start, Early Education, Nursery Plus, After-School Club and Holiday Club services, supporting children aged 2 to 12 years.
Working as part of a supportive and professional team, you will help create high-quality play and learning experiences that inspire children's creativity, confidence, independence and wellbeing.
About the Role:As a Full Day Care Practitioner, you will provide high-quality care, play and learning opportunities for children aged 2-12 years, ensuring their individual needs are recognised, respected and supported. Working under the guidance of the appropriate Supervisor, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of engaging activities and experiences in line with the Welsh Government's Early Childhood Play, Learning and Care (ECPLC) framework and the Playwork Principles.

- Provide high-quality child-centred care and learning opportunities across our Full Day Care and Out of School Childcare Provision.
- Meet, greet and register children, ensuring safe arrivals, departures and smooth transitions throughout the day.
- Support children's wellbeing, development and learning through nurturing and positive interactions.
- Act as a key person for a group of children, building secure relationships and supporting their individual development.
- Observe, assess and record children's progress through learning journeys and developmental records.
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging play experiences and age-appropriate activities.
- Promote children's independence, confidence, creativity and self-esteem.
- Support inclusive practice and meet the needs of all children, including those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), disabilities, cultural and medical requirements.
- Encourage purposeful, child-led play in line with the Playwork Principles.
- Develop positive partnerships with parents and carers, sharing information professionally and sensitively.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health, safety, hygiene and wellbeing.
- Support children's personal care needs, including toileting, first aid and promoting healthy habits.
- Assist with snack preparation, tidying, cleaning equipment and maintaining safe learning environments.
- Carry out risk assessments and contribute to maintaining a safe and stimulating environment.
- Record accidents, incidents and other relevant information accurately using agreed systems.
- Support outdoor play experiences in all weather conditions while maintaining appropriate supervision ratios.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, students, volunteers and external professionals.
- Participate in staff meetings, training and professional development opportunities.
- Support designated responsibilities such as ALNCo, Welsh Language Champion, Quality Co-ordinator or other roles as agreed.
- Contribute to reflective practice and continuous improvement across the provision.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Essential A recognised Level 2 or 3 Childcare qualification relevant to the role (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards it.
- Experience working with children within an early years, childcare, playwork or educational setting.
- A sound understanding of child development and children's learning through play.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
