Job Summary
Quality Assurance Lab Technician responsible for supporting Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) laboratory operations and quality testing in a manufacturing environment. The position is 100% onsite at 1609 Biddle Avenue, Wyandotte, MI 48192.

Shift7 pm–7 am, 12‑hour rotating shifts with night to day rotation every other week. Hours alternate between 36 hours (week
1) and 48 hours (week
2). Weekend work is required with alternate weekends off.
- Minimum of high‑school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of manufacturing, quality, or laboratory experience.
- Basic understanding of chemistry, mathematics, and statistical concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to learn laboratory testing methods, equipment operation, and quality systems.
- Regular attendance and punctuality required.
- Work 12‑hour rotating day and night shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent walking, standing, and stair climbing between laboratory and manufacturing areas.
Laboratory and pilot‑scale manufacturing environment. - Potential exposure to chemicals, heat, noise, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Visual ability to read, interpret, and document laboratory data and test results.
- Support TPU laboratory operations by performing physical, chemical, and mechanical testing of in‑process and finished products.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure accurate testing equipment calibration and preventive maintenance.
- Work with laboratory, production, and quality personnel to meet customer requirements and production objectives while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and regulatory requirements.
- Execute MFI, physical, and chemical testing on samples from production according to established testing plans and methods.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including extruders and injection molding equipment used to prepare test specimens.
- Record, review, and enter test results accurately into electronic systems such as SAP, LIMS, or other laboratory databases, and release data in a timely manner.
- Perform routine equipment checks, calibration verification, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Investigate, document, and elevate out‑of‑specification results according to established procedures.
- Help production teams resolve quality‑related issues.
- Assist with laboratory documentation updates, continuous improvement activities, and process standardization efforts.
- Evaluate color and appearance properties using laboratory instrumentation, including spectrophotometers.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization in accordance with established standards.
