We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Safety Officer to join our newest Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) at The Vista. The Safety Officer will be responsible for protecting the life and property of all persons on The Vista premises by patrolling the building and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. The officer secures, unlocks, and protects The Vista buildings and demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.

Competencies

• Enforce on campus parking regulations such as parking in fire zone, handicap parking, visitor parking, fleet parking and any non parking area.
• Patrol buildings and grounds; and inspect doors, windows, and locks to determine level of security.
• Escort visitors, patients, and personnel to and from parking areas.
• Patrol parking areas to detect any irregularities. Inspect outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft of Christian Health property.
• Provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling the buildings and grounds of The Vista.
• Responds quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations.
• Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections.
• Monitors The Vista using electronic security equipment (closed-circuit television, alarms, etc.).
• Writes accurate, clear, and legible incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.
• Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Christian Health personnel, visitors, physicians, or patients and reports and documents all incidents verbally or through general incident form by the end of each shift.
• Notifies Manager when items reported as missing are located.
• Assists motorists who become stranded on Christian Health property.
• Ensures only authorized personnel are admitted onto Christian Health premises.
• Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients.
• Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiries made by patients, visitors, or personnel.
• Responds to all emergency codes.
• Works with Security & Safety Manager to report any safety concerns observed during the course of security rounds.
• Orients new personnel to position responsibilities.
• Assists the police department and other emergency services on campus.
• Increases speeding enforcement.
• Emergency response
  - Primary responder.
• Assists visitors and vendors with directions.
• Helps ensure visitors and vendors have signed in and wearing appropriate badge.
• Assists with fire and emergency drills.
• Responds to all Sara alert notifications.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Schedule Full-time 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Monday
- Friday.

Education High School Diploma; or equivalent.

Qualifications/Requirements Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.

• Valid driver’s license required.
• One year experience in the field of security management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Criminal justice background with traffic control experience preferred.

Salary
USD $18.25/hr.
