JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE:
Pre-k Classroom Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Valid State Teacher Certification Granted by the Professional Teaching Standards Board
* Meets all certification requirements including endorsements in Elementary Education and Early Childhood education in the state of Wyoming.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
JOB GOAL:
To create a flexible class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each pupils' ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* The teacher implements lesson plans for specific subject area assigned utilizing standards, curriculum and course(s) of study adopted by the Board of Education.
* Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
* Collaborates with instructional team to develop lesson plans and instructional materials for an early childhood program utilizing the stat early childhood standards.
* Provides individualized, small group, and differentiated support in order to meet the needs of each pupil.
* Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time.
* Establishes and monitors classroom routines and expectations.
* Evaluates pupils' developmental, cognitive, and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
* Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program.
* Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to implement individual learning and behavior plans.
* Participates in the IEP process as appropriate and as required by law.
* Creates a child centered, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
* Maintains professional competence through in-service, workshops, and other professional development activities.
* Collaborates with the appropriate administrator on the evaluation process in conformance with district evaluation guidelines.
* Collaborates with early intervention services to identify and evaluate students in need of extra support.
* Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
* Supervises pupils during both in out of the classroom during the assigned working day.
* Evaluate, and communicate, developmental, social, and cognitive growth.
* Participates in curriculum development committees as required.
* Participates in faculty meetings, committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
* Adheres to all applicable laws, policies, and regulations governing the operation of Fremont County School District #14.
* Other duties as may be, from time to time, assigned by the Building Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of contract to be determined by Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on teacher evaluation.
