Assistant Professor in Counselor Education
JOB PURPOSEWe are seeking to hire a dynamic counselor educator committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service who brings a vision and passion for preparing excellent counselors and counselor educators. This position is for one 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Counselor Education program within the College of Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWe expect all faculty at the University of Wyoming to be excellent teachings and be committed to innovative teaching approaches resulting in improved student learning. Faculty in the College typically teach five courses per academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in academic scholarship (including grant writing and conducting/publishing/presenting research in counselor education), along with service within the university and to the profession.
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
- An earned Ph.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program (or degree conferral by time of appointment).
- Post-graduate counseling experience.
- A professional counseling license and/or certification; or license eligible in Wyoming.
- Evidence of an emergent line of empirical research in counselor education.
- Demonstration of (or clear potential for) excellence in teaching and student mentoring.
- We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and growing expertise in one or more of the following areas: substance abuse/addictions, school counseling, play therapy, and trauma informed counseling.
- Successful experience and interest in teaching across multiple instructional modalities, including online and hybrid formats.
- Experience and/or potential for meeting the land-grant mission of the university to support constituents across the state through outreach and development efforts.
- Willingness and ability to support local and regional professional organizations through programing, leadership, and active participation.
- A cover letter explaining how you meet stated qualifications for the position and your professional goals in the areas of teaching, scholarship and professional service;
