Qualifications and
Experience:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field preferred
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
- Familiarity with various communication modes (ASL, oral communication, cued speech, etc.)
- Strong collaboration and advocacy skills
- Comfortable adapting curriculum and utilizing assistive technology
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth
- Assess students' needs and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction and academic support to students with hearing differences
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and families
- Adapt curriculum, resources, and classroom environments for accessibility
- Deliver training and resources for staff regarding hearing loss and accommodations
- Advocate for effective communication access throughout the school setting
- Maintain thorough documentation and compliance with educational requirements
