Head Teacher; Elementary

Overview

The Head Teacher (Elementary) will organize and manage an educational program or department within the school, such as special education, gifted and talented, or elementary. The incumbent will administer day‑to‑day operations, schedule personnel, manage budgets and supplies, develop curriculum, and represent the department in staff and board meetings.

• Oversee the day‑to‑day administration of the program/department.
• Schedule leave, teaching areas, and staff evaluations.
• Order supplies, prepare budgets, and schedule professional services.
• Develop curriculum, select adapted textbooks, and integrate new educational developments.
• Teach in a classroom or team‑based setting as required.
• Represent the program/department at staff meetings, planning sessions, and budget reviews.
• Support educational initiatives and assess student academic growth.

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Applicants who are male and born after 12‑31‑1959 must register under the Military Selective Service Act.
• A background security investigation is required for all new hires.
• Valid driver's license is required if the position includes incidental motor‑vehicle duty.
• Must possess a valid state‑issued teacher licensure or certification in the appropriate specialty.
• The position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.

• Master's degree with a minimum of 12 graduate semester hours in School Administration or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in school administration, teaching, counseling, or related education roles.
• Valid state teacher license or certification in the appropriate specialty.
