Salary: $60,000 to $91,150 Per Year
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Elementary classroom teacher is responsible for facilitating student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress, activities, and outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
REPORTINGRELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate them into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available instructional time.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small‑group instruction as needed.
- Maintain familiarity with district and Wyoming State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.
- Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and district policies, and establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Supervise students in activities that take place outside the classroom during the school day, including those involving school transportation.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Coordinate with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment, and maintain inventory records.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE- Three to five years of classroom teaching experience preferred, but applicants with all levels of experience are welcome.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
- K‑6 Elementary Certification through the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
