Lower School Homeroom Teacher

Position Description

Clapham School, a PreK-12 classical Christian school in Wheaton, Illinois, is seeking a Lower School homeroom teacher for the  school year. Inspired by the classical tradition of education and the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason, we equip students to pursue wisdom, grow in virtue, and stand firm in biblical truth.

To inspire students with an elementary education that leads them to love learning, grow in Christ, and gain the liberal arts fundamental skills of reading, spelling, writing, and mathematics.

• Provide instruction in accordance with the school’s classical philosophy.
• Provide instruction using Charlotte Mason’s pedagogical techniques of narration, habit training, atmosphere, and a curriculum of living books and ideas.
• Teach and lesson plan for a variety of subjects, including math, nature study, history, literature, poetry, Bible, phonics, reading, spelling, artist study, composer study, and recitation.
• Implement a phonics approach to reading instruction.
• Help students grow in habits of mind, heart, and body.
• Foster positive and collaborative relationships with the students and parents.
• Foster a positive and collaborative relationship.
