The teacher is expected to be in complete agreement with the OCA Statement of Faith and school policies. The teacher’s life should demonstrate personal commitment to Jesus and a desire to live under His Lordship, and the teacher should be a student and lover of the Bible, God's only written Word. The teacher should consistently attend a local evangelical church. Active, joyful participation in required staff meetings and school assemblies is expected.

The teacher must maintain a neat, organized, clean, and stimulating classroom environment, encouraging students to help clean and maintain their space. Simple, manageable class routines should be established to accomplish necessary tasks such as taking attendance, collecting homework, daily cleaning schedules, material storage, and distribution. The teacher should be familiar with and able to apply these routines and the letter of school rules.

An orderly, not necessarily silent, working atmosphere should prevail, and students should be aware of class and school rules and encouraged to exercise self‑discipline. When administrative discipline is required, the teacher is expected to report the offense accurately to the administrator and handle the vast majority of corrective discipline situations in the classroom.

The teacher should possess thorough knowledge of and interest in the subjects they are assigned to teach, encouraging students to see how all subjects interrelate as parts of God's integrated universe. Clear language and appropriate vocabulary are essential. A variety of teaching methods consistent with the teacher evaluation rubric should be employed. The teacher should seek to stimulate and maintain students' interest in the material, employing a variety of techniques beyond testing to measure progress.

The school curriculum guide is to be used as the primary guide to measuring the overall development of the class and individual students.

The teacher’s weekly plans, reviewed by an administrator, should reflect creativity and proper use of class time. The teacher must communicate regularly with parents, getting to know families well, informing them of classroom events, and inviting them to visit or assist in the classroom under the teacher’s direction. The teacher should consistently demonstrate pride in OCA through punctuality, speech, attitude, dress, and attention to duties.

The teacher shall abide by policies outlined in the teacher handbook and understand OCA’s purpose and philosophy. A bachelor’s degree is the standard for full‑time teachers, but exceptions may be made for appropriate training, certifications, and/or experience. Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
