The job of Elementary Principal is done for the purpose/s of providing leadership and management to a K-5 elementary school with a primary focus on improving student achievement while maintaining the health and safety of all students and staff. The Principal is responsible for all aspects of the building which include but are not limited to: instruction; curriculum; staff supervision and evaluation;

school improvement; staff development; student discipline; record-keeping; public relations; and maintenance of building and grounds.

• Oversees all aspects of the instructional program, school environment and the operational/fiscal health of the school.
• Supervises, monitors, and coaches staff in the building with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Oversees the professional development of teachers and staff, including regular supervision and evaluations.
• Make recommendations to the Superintendent for hiring, contract status, re-employment, or termination for all personnel in a manner, which is consistent with district policies and guidelines pertaining to personnel actions.
• Serving as the Local Education Authority, attend IEP/504 meetings, and assure compliance with governing statutes and regulations. Work cooperatively with the Director of Special Education to assure optimum effective services to children, families, and teachers.
• Fosters an environment where staff and faculty work cooperatively together and hold each other accountable to reach high levels of student achievement.
• Manages organizational systems and resources for a safe, high-performing learning environment.
• Collaborates with families and stakeholders who represent diverse community interests and needs; mobilizes community resources that support and improve teaching and learning.
• Provides instructional leadership focused on current research and best practices in order to continually increase student achievement.
• Allocates and coordinates the movement of resources to ensure the health, safety, and productive learning of staff and students.
• Collaborates with other elementary and district administrators to provide an overall direction for teaching and learning in the school district.
• Effectively manages school operations in terms of personnel, budgets, buildings and grounds, etc.
• Promotes a positive tone for collaborative school/community relations by articulating the mission, seeking community support, and fostering rapport with all stakeholders.
• Confers with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies and student behavioral or learning issues.
• Work cooperatively to arrange professional travel, field trips, etc with the Human Resources Coordinator.
• Facilitate communication, good relations, and cooperation of the staff with parents in general, and with PTO and other parent-based school support groups as well as with appropriate community-based support groups. Participate in the meetings and activities of parent-based support groups at the school. Generally promote positive school-community relations and communication.
• Manage the use of the school by community and other non-school groups according to district policies and guidelines.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date attendance, enrollment, discipline, and general cumulative student records according to district policies and guidelines, and cause information from these to be reported in an accurate and timely way when…
