Position: SOLAR O&M SALES DEVELOPMENT COACH – Operations and Maintenance
Location: Midwest

The Solar O&M Sales Coach role is responsible for driving revenue growth by selling operations, maintenance, and performance optimization services for solar PV assets. This position focuses on developing new customer relationships, expanding existing accounts, and positioning long‑term service agreements that maximize system uptime, energy production, and asset value.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of solar PV systems, post‑installation lifecycle services, and consultative sales within the renewable energy or energy services market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify, qualify, and close new O&M service opportunities across residential, C&I, and/or utility‑scale solar markets
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of solar asset owners, EPCs, developers, and investors
  • Sell service offerings including:
    • Preventive and corrective maintenance
    • Monitoring and performance analysis
    • Inverter and equipment servicing
    • Vegetation management
    • Troubleshooting and emergency response
    • Warranty and service compliance
  • Develop tailored service proposals, contracts, and pricing models

Account Management

  • Manage and grow relationships with existing O&M customers
  • Renew and upsell long‑term service agreements
  • Serve as the primary customer liaison between operations, engineering, and field service

Market & Technical Expertise

  • Understand system performance metrics, degradation, availability, and revenue impact
  • Communicate value through performance guarantees, SLAs, and ROI‑driven proposals
  • Stay current on solar technology, inverters, monitoring platforms, and regulatory trends
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure accurate scope, pricing, and execution
  • Maintain CRM accuracy, sales forecasts, and pipeline reporting
  • Provide market feedback to leadership on competitive positioning and customer needs

  • New O&M contract value and margin
  • Contract renewals and retention rates
  • Pipeline growth and close rates
  • Average contract term length
  • Customer satisfaction and performance outcomes
Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Required

  • 3+ years of sales or business development experience in:
    • Solar O&M
    • Renewable energy
    • Energy services
    • EPC or asset management
  • Working knowledge of solar PV systems and lifecycle services
  • Proven ability to sell long‑term service contracts or recurring revenue solutions
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to travel regionally as required

Preferred

  • O&M‑specific sales experience (solar, wind, storage, or related assets)
  • Experience working with asset owners, investors, or third‑party operators
  • Familiarity with monitoring platforms (Solar Edge, Enphase, SMA, Sungrow, etc.)
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce, Hub Spot, or similar)
  • NABCEP or other renewable energy certifications (a plus)
