Full Time, Hourly, 12-Hour Shift
Roster is based on 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off basis with one 12-hour dayshift per day.
Position Description- Safely and productively operate an in-house drill rig using mud rotary methods to drill and construct ISR wells at an in-situ recovery operation.
- Safely and productively drill delineation programs using air rotary drilling methods.
- Perform drilling activities including drilling, casing, well development, airlifting, equipment setup and maintenance, and drill site preparation and reclamation.
- Follow approved drilling programs, maintain accurate field records, and inspect and care for the company drill rig and support equipment.
- Work closely with supervisors and other departments to complete drilling activities safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and operational requirements.
- Operate one of the company’s in-house drill rigs, a Geoprobe DM650 or similar unit, safely and efficiently to drill ISR production, injection, monitoring, delineation, and exploration wells as directed.
- Set up, inspect, and rig down drilling equipment, tooling, pumps, compressors, and support equipment for daily drilling operations.
- Perform drilling activities in accordance with approved drilling programs, site procedures, safety requirements, and environmental standards.
- Assist with casing installation, well development, airlifting, jetting, and other tasks required to complete ISR wells.
- Monitor drilling parameters and hole conditions, and respond appropriately to changing ground conditions, circulation issues, or equipment performance concerns.
- Conduct routine maintenance, lubrication, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on the drill rig and associated support equipment.
- Handle drill pipe, casing, muds, polymers, fuel, and other drilling consumables in a safe and efficient manner.
- Complete pre-start inspections, hazard assessments, and required equipment checks, and promptly report unsafe conditions or incidents.
- Maintain accurate drilling logs, daily reports, maintenance records, and other required operational documentation.
- Support drill pad housekeeping, site cleanup, and reclamation activities associated with drilling operations.
- Work effectively with supervisors, geologists, and other site personnel to meet drilling schedules and quality standards.
- Follow company policies and actively contribute to a strong safety, environmental, and teamwork culture.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or drilling-related certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated experience drilling water wells or ISR wellfield wells, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in uranium ISR or comparable wellfield environments. Preferred experience also includes delineation drilling using air rotary methods.
- Hands‑on experience operating a DM650 drill rig or a similar drill rig used for water well or ISR wellfield drilling.
- Working knowledge of drilling methods, casing installation, well development, and general drill site operations.
- Ability to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on drill rigs and associated support equipment.
- Knowledge of muds, polymers, drilling fluids, and consumables used in drilling operations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by the company; CDL preferred, including air brake and tanker endorsements where required.
- Ability to read and follow drilling programs, procedures, safety documentation, and complete basic written records and reports.
- Basic math skills and the ability to use standard workplace software and mobile or digital reporting tools as required.
- Working knowledge of safe work practices, including hazard identification, equipment inspections, lockout/tagout, excavation awareness, and industrial safety requirements.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and contractors.
