The Civil Field Engineer is responsible for tasks and activities relating to construction engineering within the Civil discipline (i.e., concrete, structural steel, excavation/backfill, scaffolding, architectural finishes) utilizing nuclear codes and standards. Responsibilities include the development of work plans, coordinating materials, performing, and documenting inspections, reporting progress, and resolving conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of commodities through turnover to Startup/Commissioning.
This position will be responsible for a variety of construction tasks utilizing nuclear and industrial codes and standards related to concrete, steel, earthwork, architectural installations. Duties include interpreting design and vender drawings and specifications.
- Provides field engineering support and assistance to superintendents, supporting personnel in meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and quality, and assures results meet design requirements.
- Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of civil commodities.
- Performs Civil Field Engineering activities including inspections, audits and planning to support the installation of formwork, rebar, concrete, structural steel, architectural, earthwork and performs rigging support and planning activities for material and equipment.
- Assure procedural compliance, material control, and complete and thorough documentation of inspections for completed work.
- Direct or performs preparation of quantity listings of field purchased material and equipment and initiates requisitions for field material purchases.
- Supports preparation of construction drawings and schedules, design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of as built drawings and other job plans.
- Supports planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment, assuring that proper warehousing and storage exists to ensure environmental protection.
- Review’s specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise on site.
- Oversees and coordinates subcontractor work efforts and subcontract changes and interfaces.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related subject from an accredited university and 5-8 years of progressive construction or civil engineering experience; or in lieu of a degree, 9-12 years of progressive civil related construction/craft experience.
- Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
