FULL-TIME, SALARIED, DAYS POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for implementation of the Industrial Safety Program under the direction of the Vice President of Health, Safety, and Environment. This includes assessing and mitigating workplace hazards, employee and contractor training, maintaining required program documentation, site safety inspections, contractor safety management, incident investigation and documentation, and maintaining Industrial safety programs in accordance with OSHA standards. This position will also be responsible for supervision of the Radiation Protection Program including radiation safety personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for protecting workers, equipment, and facilities by enforcing safety regulations, mitigating occupational hazards, and championing a proactive safety culture that fosters an environment of open communication with employees and contractors.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the Industrial Safety Program including conducting safety inspections at the Central Processing Facility (CPP), operating wellfield and wellfield drilling operations, for the identification of workplace hazards, and the mitigation of identified industrial safety concerns, incident documentation and investigation, as well as contractor safety documentation and coordination.
  • Lead investigations into all accidents, injuries, and “near‑miss” incidents to determine underlying causes. Develop and implement measures to prevent the recurrence of safety incidents and maintain comprehensive documentation of incidents, required testing, and compliance data.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation, site hazard training, contractor safety, and routine and annual refresher training. Track employee and contractor safety training and refresher schedules.
  • Routinely attend or conduct tailgate and refresher safety meetings with CPP, construction, wellfield, and geology/casing crews.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of industrial hygiene programs such as noise monitoring, dust intake, and welding fumes in accordance with OSHA standards and ensure adequate controls are identified and implemented to minimize health impacts and maintain permissible exposure levels for employees.
  • Responsible for the collection and review of contractor safety documentation, coordination of contractor safety training, contractor inspections and safety reviews, and participation in contractor incident investigations. Conduct routine inspections and field observations of contractor work areas.
  • Responsible for routine and tailgate training for employees, contractors, and visitors in industrial safety protection and hazards of the facility. Training duties may include new hire training, annual refresher training and/or task specific training, tailgate safety training for crews as needed.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining written industrial safety protection monitoring procedures and implementation of emergency response programs. Assist in reviews and revisions of the company’s program procedures and of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of instruments used to monitor working conditions and minimize exposure to workplace hazards in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Supervise the implementation of the Radiation Safety Program including conducting radiological safety inspections and compliance monitoring at the Central Processing Facility (CPP), operating wellfield and wellfield drilling operations. Responsibilities include identification of workplace hazards and the mitigation of identified radiation safety concerns.
  • As needed and as directed by the Vice President of Health, Safety, and Environment, assist with other duties related to the Environmental Monitoring Programs, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Qualifications
  • At least five years of experience in applying Industrial Safety and Industrial Hygiene programs in work practices at Insitu Uranium Recovery or other industrial facilities is required.
