About the Role

The Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as its next Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO). Reporting to the Chief Clinical Operations Officer & Senior Vice President, the CPO serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, providing strategic oversight for all pharmacy services across the enterprise while advancing Roswell Park’s mission of delivering world-class cancer care, groundbreaking research, and exceptional patient outcomes.

This executive leader will shape the future of pharmacy services by driving innovation across clinical operations, specialty pharmacy, medication safety, formulary management, research, education, and business strategy. Working in close partnership with physicians, nursing leadership, researchers, and operational executives, the CPO will ensure the highest standards of medication management while positioning pharmacy as a strategic contributor to organizational growth, quality, and innovation.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for all inpatient, outpatient, specialty, clinical, and research pharmacy services across the enterprise
  • Develop and execute a long-term strategic vision that advances pharmacy practice, operational excellence, patient safety, and innovation
  • Lead all pharmacy programs including clinical services, medication distribution, drug information, specialty pharmacy, formulary management, research, education, and business operations
  • Partner with executive leadership, physicians, nursing, and operational leaders to optimize medication management throughout the organization
  • Oversee formulary development, medication-use policies, and enterprise-wide pharmaceutical stewardship initiatives
  • Champion medication safety, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Foster innovation through technology optimization, automation, specialty pharmacy expansion, and evolving models of pharmaceutical care
  • Support and strengthen clinical research and investigational drug services that advance Roswell Park’s academic and scientific mission
  • Promote pharmacy’s role in multidisciplinary patient care, clinical decision-making, and value-based healthcare delivery
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing leadership team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and engagement
  • Build strong partnerships with faculty, researchers, department leaders, industry partners, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission standards, New York State regulations, federal requirements, and evolving best practices in pharmacy
  • Advance a culture grounded in High Reliability Organization principles focused on safety, transparency, continuous improvement, and exceptional patient care

The Department of Pharmacy at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive oncology pharmacy services across inpatient, outpatient, infusion, specialty pharmacy, investigational drug, and medication safety programs. Pharmacy leaders work collaboratively with clinicians, researchers, and operational teams to support precision medicine, clinical trials, advanced therapeutics, and innovative models of pharmaceutical care.
