The Managerof Infection Prevention &Emergency Preparednessis responsible for providing leadership, oversight,andcoordinationofthe hospital’sinfectionpreventionandemergencypreparednessprograms. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer & Vice President of Clinical Services, this position ensures compliance with federal, state,and accreditation standards while promoting a cultureofpatient safety, regulatory readiness,and continuous improvement. Responsibilities includeinfectionsurveillance, outbreakpreventionandresponse, policy development, staff education,emergencypreparednessplanning, regulatory reporting,and accreditation support. The Director collaborates with hospital leadership, medical staff, community partners,and regulatory agencies to strengthen organizational resilience, reduce risk,andensurepreparednessfor emergencies, communicable disease threats,andother hazards.
This position also serves as a backup to the Director of Quality as needed.
- Current Ohio nursing license required; RN preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimumofthree yearsofhealthcare experience ininfectionprevention, quality,emergency preparedness, or related leadership role preferred.
- Certification inInfection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
- Emergencypreparednesscertification (CEM, CHEP, FEMA PDS, or similar) preferred.
- Knowledgeofinfectionpreventionprinciples, healthcare epidemiology,and healthcare-associatedinfectionpreventionstrategies.
- KnowledgeofCMS, accreditation,and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Experience with emergencypreparednessplanning, drills, exercises,and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical, organizational,and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership,and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, leaders, staff, community agencies,and regulatory partners.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLSandPALS preferred.
- Commitment to ongoing professional developmentandcontinuing education.
- Provide leadershipandoversightofthe hospital’sinfectionpreventionandemergencypreparednessprograms.
- Develop, implement,andevaluateinfectionpreventionpolicies, procedures, surveillance activities,andrisk reduction strategies.
- Monitorinfectionpreventionmetrics, conduct surveillance activities,and coordinate reporting to regulatory agencies as required.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders, providers,and departments to prevent healthcare-associatedinfectionsandpromote evidence-based practices.
- Coordinate outbreak investigations, communicable disease response activities,and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support employee health initiatives related toinfectionpreventionandworkforce safety.
- Develop, maintain,and evaluate the hospital’semergencypreparednessplansandresponse procedures.
- Coordinateemergencypreparednesstraining, drills, exercises,andafter-action reviews.
- Serve as the primary liaison with local, state,andfederalemergencypreparednessandpublic health agencies.
- Conduct risk assessmentsandimplement strategies to improveemergencyreadinessandorganizational resilience.
- Support accreditation readiness, regulatory compliance activities,andsurvey preparation.
- Serve on hospital committeesandinterdisciplinary teams as assigned.
- Provide backup support for quality management activities as needed.
