Overview

About the role: We are seeking an Experienced Production Equipment Operator - Road Crew to join our Open Cut Mining team at the North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM). NARM is the world’s largest surface coal mine and is located in Wright, Wyoming. The mine produces high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and shipped by rail. It has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves.

Wright is a safe, tight-knit community with outstanding schools and recreational opportunities. Peabody’s NARM Mine has a safety-first culture and aims for zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents. This role is responsible for the operation of open cut mine equipment to facilitate coal production.

The lifestyle: This position may require work on weekends, holidays, or another shift as deemed necessary. Schedule is 7 on, 7 off unless business needs dictate otherwise.

Responsibilities
  • Operate open cut mine equipment to facilitate coal production.
  • 3 months experience operating any of the following or the ability to learn: haul trucks (190 ton–240 ton), scrapers (633–657), dozers (D8–D11), rubber-tire dozers (824–834, 690 Tiger), and blades (14G, 16G, 24H).
  • Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values.
  • Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
  • Inspect and service equipment.
  • Train more junior production employees.
  • Perform pre-start inspections of equipment and work environment.
  • Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by the company.
About you
  • Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot situations arising in the pit area as needed.
  • Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts and overhead shop cranes.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as required by business need.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime when required.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Physical requirements - Surface
  • Stand for up to 4 hours per shift; seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.
  • Work from elevated positions, walk/climb stairs and ladders, and get on/off equipment.
  • Wear required PPE (footwear, hearing and eye protection) as required by Company and MSHA.
  • Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions; rapid reflex movements; good hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Lift/raise 10–50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently.
  • Work in extreme conditions (weather, dust, mud, variable noise and light, confined spaces).
  • Be available to work various shifts (days, evenings, nights) with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays.
