Job Summary
The Production Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently handling liquid and dry chemical products, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout all warehouse and transfer operations. This hands‑on role involves mixing and blending chemicals, loading and unloading trucks, tankers, and railcars; operating forklifts and other industrial equipment; repackaging and labeling materials; and maintaining precise inventory records. The position requires physical, active work and offers growth in a stable, safety‑first company.
Roleand Responsibilities
- Mixing/Blending/Manufacturing
- Operate and manage process equipment to produce blended, diluted, and manufactured final products safely and efficiently.
- Ensure final product meets specifications through process data and testing techniques.
- Monitor operations and utilize equipment such as scrubbers, ventilation, bonding/grounding, etc., to maintain safe and efficient processes.
- Receive, unload, and prepare liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars
- Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses.
- Climb tanks, tankers, and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor loads.
- Inspect tanks, tankers, and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations.
- Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages.
- Sample product and perform quality control in conjunction with laboratory personnel.
- Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs and record product amounts via computer programs.
- Pick and stage product for delivery per customer orders or other instructions.
- Operation of powered and manual industrial lift trucks (certified) to transport product in the warehouse and maintain a daily forklift checklist
- Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouse.
- Lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets over varying distances.
- Stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking within operating areas and warehouses.
- Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment
- Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails, or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations, ensuring proper labeling, stacking, or palletizing per company and regulatory requirements.
- Pay special attention to packaging, loading, and storing of food‑grade and USP items.
- Operate electronic scale and process devices.
- Store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
- Responsibility for inventory
- Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage.
- Rearrange stored materials.
- Assist in counting of physical inventory.
- General Maintenance
- Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible, and safe for all visitors and workers.
- Report and clean spills immediately.
- Protect property from theft or damage.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including general warehouse duties.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or US military experience; candidates with prior experience in chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
- Must possess or be able to pass exam to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely.
- Capable of reading, comprehending, and following detailed instructions in English and writing simple correspondence.
- Proficient in basic arithmetic and measurement conversions.
- Able to learn and operate technology‑based devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, PLCs, and operational technology equipment.
- Meet or exceed production requirements based on equipment and information used in the course of work.
- Wear safety equipment as prescribed by the company; comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks.
Other Job Requirements
- Participate in ongoing safety program including safety meetings and training.
- Must be available to work any days of the week on assigned 8‑12 hour shifts.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Maintain a good safety and attendance record.
- Work cooperatively with other departments and personnel.
