Process Operator – Glen Rock, PA
Gelest, Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is hiring a Process Operator to join our team in Glen Rock, PA. This role focuses on the safe and efficient operation of chemical manufacturing equipment and processes, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities- Operate chemical processing equipment such as reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to produce specialty chemicals safely and efficiently.
- Conduct basic tests and analyze data to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Gather, sign in, and sign out raw materials and finished products, maintaining accurate inventories and material flow.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
- Use feedback from processes to make necessary adjustments to maintain safe and efficient output.
- Collect samples of products at specified stages for laboratory analysis.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Chemical or manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and diagrams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Basic math skills for calculating and interpreting production data.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Frequent lifting up to and over 50 lbs.; stand for extended periods, operate hand tools, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift.
- Awareness of fire, safety, and chemical hazards. Pass respirator fit test as required by OSHA.
- Must be able to hear and respond to all communications and alarms.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
- 3-day then 4-day rotating 12-hour schedule:
Week 1 – Monday, Thursday, Friday;
Week 2 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. - Day Shift: 5:30 am - 6 pm;
Night Shift: 5:30 pm - 6 am. - After 4 weeks on Day/Night shift, rotate to the opposite shift time.
Salary range: $22.00 (entry level) - $28.00 per hour, influenced by scope, experience, and market factors.
