Full Time, Hourly, 12-Hour Rotating
SUMMARYThis position is responsible for uranium recovery operations at the Central Processing Plant (CPP). This includes but is not limited to operating equipment for water treatment, ion exchange (IX), elution, precipitation, filtration, dryers, and miscellaneous other supporting equipment. The role is also responsible for resin transfer, sample retrieval and analysis, monitoring of flows, pressures, temperatures, and inspections, and basic equipment maintenance.
A strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance is required.
- Operate and monitor CPP equipment for uranium recovery, transferring resin across shaker units, resin rinses, eluting product through a series of stripping processes, precipitations circuit, filtration of yellowcake slurry, dissolved air filtration (DAF), drying, and loading of yellowcake.
- Assist lead operator in operating and monitoring ISR well fields to support safe and efficient uranium recovery.
- Collect samples from various processing equipment and perform limited laboratory analysis of selected samples.
- Utilize computerized operating systems to perform assigned tasks and respond appropriately to system alarms.
- Conduct required operations and safety inspections and maintain accurate written records.
- Maintain required operations monitoring data and information in written and/or electronic records.
- Operate company vehicles and other equipment on company property.
- Troubleshoot plant and operational issues and perform minor maintenance and repairs to piping and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain multiple chemical inventories.
- Perform preventive maintenance on instruments and operating systems (Flow meters, pumps, motors, solenoids, pH meters, etc.)
- Conduct inspections of the CPP processing plant, DAF, and exterior support processes.
- Ship and receive chemicals, waste materials, and production products in accordance with company procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by the company.
- Ability to work productively with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers.
- Must be able to read and write and perform basic math including multiplication and division.
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct malfunctions of equipment.
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms with peers and supervisors and support staff. Especially in shift‑turnovers.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift 25-100 pounds repeatedly.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards typically associated with a uranium ISR facility which includes the presence of low levels of radioactive materials and radiation, low to moderate noises levels, moving equipment, wet surfaces, uneven ground and facility equipment. The work is generally outdoors, and the employee can be exposed to inclement weather including cold, hot, snow, rain, mud etc.
