Mechanical Design & Integration LeadArti Flex Manufacturing - Automation Group
Build the machines behind automation.As a Mechanical Design & Integration Lead with our Automation Group, you’ll manage outsourced mechanical design projects from concept through completion while providing technical direction and design oversight. You’ll review and approve mechanical designs, support internal engineering projects, and make design updates as needed. Working closely with our design partners and internal engineering, controls, robotics and machine-build teams, you’ll help ensure projects deliver complete, buildable designs that meet customer requirements and Auto Matrix standards.
You’ll work on a variety of automation equipment, including robotic cells, weld fixtures, end-of-arm tooling, press tooling, guarding and special machines
. You’ll work closely with controls, robotics, project management, fabrication and machine build to make sure the mechanical design works not just on paper, but in the real world.
Manage outsourced mechanical design projects from kickoff through design release, build support, revisions and as-built documentation. Define project requirements, coordinate resources, monitor schedules and quality, and hold outside design partners accountable.
Provide technical direction and approve designs
, leading design reviews and evaluating Solid Works models, assemblies, drawings, BOMs and calculations for functionality, safety, manufacturability, maintainability and compliance with project and company standards.
Create and revise mechanical designs in Solid Works for automation equipment, including robotic cells, weld fixtures, EOAT, tooling, guarding and special machines. Make small to moderate updates after release and support engineering changes, troubleshooting, machine build, debug and customer run-off.
Work across mechanical, controls, robotics and manufacturing disciplines to resolve design and integration issues, including pneumatics, linear motion, actuators, sensors, machine safety and operator access.
Identify project risks and design issues early, communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and internal teams, and continuously improve mechanical design standards, checklists, templates and Solid Works libraries.

What You'll BringAssociate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or equivalent experience.
Strong proficiency in Solid Works and mechanical design best practices.
Knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, tooling, manufacturing processes and machine safety standards.
Strong engineering judgment with the ability to evaluate designs for functionality, manufacturability and integration.
Ability to manage priorities, collaborate across teams and effectively work with outside design resources.

This is an onsite position in a collaborative, creative and fast-paced office located near our machine-build and fabrication areas. Travel is rare and expected to remain below 10%. A typical work will is 45-50 hours, with more hours required as needed when work load is high.
