General Summary

Responsibility to perform various C.T. SCAN procedures that require independent judgment administering ionizing radiation to patients. Assumes responsibility for designated area.

As an AWS staff member you will be responsible to work all weekends except for four weekend days that can be taken off as PTO. The employee will also be asked to fill in periodically for other shifts during the week.

Skills and Abilities
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiographic technology program in an AMA-approved school and successful completion of board registry by ARRT in Radiography and C.T.
  • Preferably a member of either ASRT or MSRT or both.
  • Current BLS certification - Basic life support.
  • Maintain ARRT certification.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge of all protocols in the CT department.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of the injection rates for each scan protocol.
  • Understands the effect of manipulation and centering and applications of these setting for each anatomical part image.
  • Recognizes and applies the appropriate prep for each exam performed.
  • Cite the scan parameter of each anatomical study performed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform necessary reconstructions, 3D and MPRS to achieve highest possible quality images.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in archiving and retrieving of images from all media types.
  • Ability to assemble the appropriate sterile and non-sterile equipment setup for each special procedure.
  • Ability to perform the correct filming sequence and injection rates.
  • Recognizes and applies the appropriate prep for each exam.
  • Proficient at starting P.V.A.D’s when necessary.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to:
    Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
  • Medication Authorization

    The organization requires this job classification to sign a "Delegation of Authority" authorization to utilize medications within their scope of practice.

    The authority can and will be revoked at anytime, if the conditions are not met or patient safety is jeopardized. The "Delegation of Authority" is a formal document that is reviewed by the Pharmacy Director and Radiologist. This document is updated on an annual basis from the original date or date of amendment.
