Position: Driller / Operator

The Driller/Operator plays a critical role in field operations, safely and efficiently operating drilling equipment used in the installation of dewatering wells and related systems. This position leads and assists with mobilization and demobilization of drilling equipment, materials, and supplies to and from project sites. As a hands‑on leader, the Driller/Operator contributes directly to safe, efficient jobsite performance and supports the overall success of the KDCC team.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate drilling rigs and related equipment for dewatering wells and groundwater control systems
  • Lead and assist with setup, installation, teardown, and removal of drilling and dewatering equipment
  • Direct laborers and crew members during drilling operations to ensure safe, efficient workflow
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on drilling equipment, pumps, and tools
  • Monitor drilling conditions, soil types, and groundwater behavior and adjust operations as needed
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation per KDCC procedures
  • Ensure proper handling, placement, and connection of pumps, hoses, generators, and related equipment
  • Keep jobsites, yard, and shop areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and clients
  • Follow all KDCC and regulatory environmental, health, and safety standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • CDL or the ability to obtain a CDL preferred
  • Prior drilling experience required (dewatering experience preferred but not required)
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment
  • Willingness to travel and work long hours in varying weather conditions
