Position Summary

The Tank Welder will utilize plastic welding techniques when constructing the tank. They will prepare the tank pieces for assembly by thoroughly cleaning them. They will assemble the tank according to blueprints of the fire apparatus. The Tank Welder will also be required to perform quality tests on the completed tanks.

Essential Functions
  • Utilizes plastic welding when constructing the tank.
  • Welds the tank according to blueprints of the fire apparatus.
  • Prepares tank for welding by thoroughly cleaning it.
  • Tests water tank to ensure the quality of the build.
  • Performs inspections on all pieces worked on to ensure quality standards.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Tools to be Utilized

Hand tools, power tools, plastic extrusion gun, grinders, cut off wheels, and tape measure.

Qualifications Knowledge
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
  • Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
Math
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Computer
  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
Abilities
  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
Other Qualifications
  • Driving license.
  • Own vehicle.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally.
  • Overtime as needed to meet the needs of the department.
  • Local travel.
  • Overnight travel.
  • Prolonged periods of travel.
