Position Summary

The Saw Operator operates the aluminum upcut saw and band saw to provide job packages to the fabrication department. This position requires the lifting of metal parts and pieces onto the saw to make necessary cuts. Attention to detail is required to ensure accuracy in job performance.

Essential Functions
  • Lifts metal sheets, parts, and pieces into machines to make required cuts.
  • Reads and understands body prints and a tape measure.
  • Monitors inventory levels of metal parts to prevent shortages.
  • Regularly cleans and performs maintenance on saws.
  • Ensures that cuts meet angle grade and other specifications of the build.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the company and its members.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s):
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
  • Saw operation in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous experience reading a tape measure preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
  • Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Solid Works, and Adobe/PDFs.
  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
Other Qualifications
  • Driving license.
  • Own vehicle.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally.
  • Overtime as needed to meet the needs of the department.
  • Local travel.
  • Overnight travel.
  • Prolonged periods of travel.
