Position Summary

The Test Pit Technician performs operational and function tests of a completed apparatus on the water pump system, foam system, generator, and aerial device to ensure it meets Rosenbauer’s high quality standards.

Essential Functions
  • Operate and maintain test pit equipment for pump performance and verification.
  • Conduct pump flow, pressure, and vacuum tests per NFPA 1900.
  • Document test results accurately and flag non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with engineers and mechanics to troubleshoot failures.
  • Calibrate and maintain test equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure safety compliance during all testing procedures.
  • Assist in developing standardized work instructions and test plans.
  • Assist with in-process inspection and final inspection audits.
  • Scheduling and overseeing UL Audits.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Tools

Hand tools, power tools, torque wrench, gauges, VOM meters, and calipers.

Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical and technical ability.
  • Strong understanding of pump performance testing and NFPA 1900 standards.
  • Familiarity with water flow, pressure gauges, and flow meters.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for high-pressure water systems.
  • Ability to interpret performance specifications.
  • Mechanical aptitude for identifying issues in plumbing or pump systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Basic PC functions.
  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
Additional Qualifications
  • Driver’s license required; may be required to drive company vehicles.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally; overtime as needed to meet department needs.
  • Must be able to obtain Class B CDL with a tanker endorsement.
