The Chassis Line Supervisor will manage the workflow, output, and schedule of the department, continuously improving production processes and team development. The role includes updating the production manager and other department heads on progress, coordinating part exchanges, writing performance reviews, and working with HR to address worker-related issues.
Essential Functions- Manage workflow, output, and schedule of the department.
- Continuously improve production processes and develop team members.
- Update production manager and department heads on project progress and exchange parts as needed.
- Write performance reviews and collaborate with HR on worker-related issues.
- Inspect trucks to confirm compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Manage inventory of tools and parts, create purchase orders as necessary, and keep the department running smoothly.
- Enforce safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment.
- Ensure company goals and objectives are met through support and application of policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet departmental needs.
Knowledge, Education, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Extensive experience with a Chassis Line department required.
- Hand‑on fire truck product knowledge preferred.
Skills
- Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Intermediate PC skills, including spreadsheets and data reports.
Abilities
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Leadership and supervision of a team.
- Quality issue identification and process adjustment.
- Accurate record keeping and organizational skills.
- Prioritization, multitasking, and deadline adherence.
- Professional interaction with customers, vendors, and leaders.
- Commitment to safety policies.
- Driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles.
- Own vehicle may be required for site visits and special projects.
- Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime.
- Ability to travel locally, overnight, and for prolonged periods as needed.
- Forklift certification required.
