The Chassis Line Assembler is responsible for the assembly and installation process of the fire apparatus chassis. They bolt the frame of the chassis together while monitoring the torque of the bolts, install a variety of equipment – fuel tanks, air tanks, axels, and cab latches – as called for in the specifications, and ensure that the frame is square and meets the detentions according to prints and the specifications.
EssentialFunctions
- Bolts the frame of the chassis together while monitoring the torque of the bolts.
- Installs a variety of different equipment to the frame such as fuel tanks, air tanks, axels, and cab latches as called for in the specifications.
- Ensures that the frame is square and meets the detentions according to prints and the specifications.
- Installs brake lines, wire harnesses, plumbing, air lines and other equipment onto the chassis.
- Assembles the engine to the fire apparatus by putting together engine components to make a working build.
- Installs wire harnesses and electrical equipment, performing cable management throughout the process.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Experience:
High school diploma/GED; strong mechanical and technical ability required; manufacturing experience preferred. - Skills: Ability to read and work from blueprints; accurately read a tape measure; follow written and verbal directions; perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure); perform simple computer tasks related to build process; troubleshoot.
- Abilities: Identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed; prioritize work and multitask while adhering to deadlines; work with minimal supervision in a team environment; understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment.

Qualifications:
Valid driving license; own vehicle; ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally; overtime as needed; local, overnight, and prolonged travel.
