Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to dialysis patients. The RN coordinates care, performs patient assessment, delivers patient education, and implements various nursing interventions. The RN collaborates with physicians and other inter‑professional colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate dialysis care. The RN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing knowledge, applying age‑ and population‑specific standards as designated in the assigned dialysis setting.
All nursing actions are performed within the scopes and standards of practice outlined by the Nurse Practice Act and state administrative rules. Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided is maintained in compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The RN uses technology to enhance patient care quality, collaborates with the care team, delegates to and supervises unlicensed personnel, and assumes overall accountability for patient care.
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program (e.g., AACN, ACEN, NLN CNEA) required.
- Current, unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs or multistate licensure in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
- Obtain and maintain required department‑specific licensure, competencies, and certifications.
