JOB SUMMARY
The Clinic Charge Nurse will manage the general administrative function and activities of the Newcastle clinic. This position is also responsible for directing patient care and ensuring that patient care issues are addressed. As the Charge Nurse, this position is responsible for providing general and technical supervision of all clinic nurses and medical assistant service personnel. Oversee daily nursing service activities in the clinic, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality healthcare.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consistently serves as a resource for nursing staff, ancillary personnel, and/or community.
- Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health and/or the situation.
- Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnosis or the issues.
- Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient’s situation.
- Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
- Implements the identified plan and ensure patient progresses according to the plan.
- Maintains accurate, complete health care records and reports.
- Administers medications to patients and monitors them for side effects and reactions.
- Orders medical diagnostic and clinical tests as required
- Administers non-intravenous medications as required.
- Answers patient calls and determines the best course of action to support them.
- Obtaining a wide range of information regarding patient condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities as needed.
- Records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested.
- Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine.
- Collects samples for lab testing as assigned.
- Provides clerical support when needed to assist clerical staff with assigned administrative duties such as answering phones, sorting, and distributing mail, and preparing documents.
- Monitor productivity, access metrics, wait times, and workflow efficiency reporting metrics to senior management.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate clinic staff.
- Promote a patient‑centered experience and resolve service issues.
- Conduct staff meetings, manage schedules, and ensure adequate coverage
- Maintains inventory of office supplies; orders new supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Maintains office files; implements an efficient system for other staff to access files and records
- Assists staff nurses in their evaluation and assessment of patient needs and in direct patient care.
- Orders medications as prescribed.
- Coordinates with medical staff and other departments to ensure efficiency.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and other assigned meetings.
- Adheres to accreditation and compliance standard guidelines.
- Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, providers, co-workers and other sections in the organization and with other facilities in the community.
- Maintains a professional, organized and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
- Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions.
- Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, training, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education and learning.
- Performs or facilitates maintenance of office equipment including cleaning, maintenance, and repairs
- Handle patient complaints and concerns.
